Challenge 10: Distress Stickles!
Sponsored by Simon Says Stamp!
Happy Monday morning, everyone! Can you believe it's already the middle of August, and that we're on Challenge number TEN??
I have to admit, I've been looking forward to this particular challenge since Day 1. I love, Love, LOVE Distress Stickles! Grungier and far more interesting than your average glitter glue, you can use them to add texture and a little pizazz to your art without feeling like you've hung it on a disco ball! Check out the Compendium of Curiosities, page 46, for the low down!
What's your favorite way to use Distress Stickles? I can't wait to find out!
As always, there are two prizes up for grabs!
Simon Says Stamp is back with another awesome and generous $25 shopping spree for the randomly-chosen winner of this week's challenge! You know them, you love them— the have an AMAZING inventory and are taking pre-orders for all that awesome new Tim stuff... including the Holy Grail of 'em all, the VAGABOND!
By the way, did you know that Simon has a brand new challenge blog of their own, and it's specifically geared toward the vintage, shabby, Tim-esque style we all adore? Check it out, it's just awesome:
You're more than welcome to create a piece that fits the criteria of both challenges, anytime. I'm honored to be in such good company!
And, the wonderful Gloria, List Mom at the All Things Tim group at Yahoo, will send a special surprise to one lucky member who adds their creation to the Compendium of Curiosities album at the group's home page. Please be sure to tag your photo "CCC #10" when you upload it there. If you're not yet a member, please check it out! It's a wonderful community of supportive, talented Tim fans, and they'll welcome you with open arms.
Your submission must specifically incorporate Distress Stickles (not regular Stickles or any other glitter glue). Please list in your blog post the color or colors of Distress Stickles you used (or, if you don't have a blog, list them in the Comments form here). Easy and totally fun— be as creative as you dare!
Thanks so much for being part of this series. Seeing your art is a huge highlight of my week, and I'm so inspired by your creativity and enthusiasm. You guys are the best!
Okay, just one more thing:
Please be aware that I'm changing the weekly deadline a little, and I'm going to be closing submissions at 8 pm MDT Sunday nights from now on (which is, I think, 2 am Monday GMT). I apologize if this poses a problem for anyone, but I'm having a hard time getting everything done and making it to work on time Monday mornings. Closing submissions a few hours earlier will allow me to wrap things up before bed Sunday night, which will be lovely. Thanks for understanding!
And that means: This Challenge is open until 8 pm (MDT) next Sunday, August 22.
Okay, let's STICKLIZE!
Hugs,
Linda
My sample above was made with Tim's awesome new Falling Leaves stamp set. The leaves were stamped onto handmade (not by me!) paper, cut out and coated with a Distress Stickles (in Pine Needles and Peeled Paint). I used the same shades to create the border around the canvas. This piece also incorporates Adirondack Paints in the background, some hammered jewelry wire for the leaf "hangers," and some cool Girls Paperie letter tiles for the too-groovy sentiment. ;-)

Oh, goodie! distress stickles. Love your leaves, they look fab hanging loose there.
That's a lovely canvas Linda but I am going to have to sit this one out. I don't have Distress Stickles (only the non-distress type with even more of them on order) and where I live in France I have no chance of getting any in time to play this week.
I shall focus on catching up with earlier CCC's that I missed instead.
Sticklize, think you coined a new word GF! Luv your leaves, this will be fun, thanks for what you do! hugz
Hello Linda,
good morning to you ( here it is 2 PM..)
I never thought I would use glitter in my life : I'm not such a "girly" woman, until I found the distress stickles.
Much to my surprise I do use them quite often but only in very small parts as subtle accents.
I do love what you have done with your leaves and covered them completely with distress stickles. Now you push me to try something similar and look how it comes out.
Wow, you are generous ! Paying a price from your own pocket ( which you otherwise could spend on Tim stuff) and I guess you also pay for all the postage... IF I would ever win, I would pay you the postage, as I do for Gloria in ATT. That's only fair I think. Winning a price is big enough :)
But hey, now I must think of a project otherwise I'm not even in the draw ! LOL
For me it's ok you close up earlier ! I would even be able to do something similar before going to work, so that's indeed a big task !
Have a nice workday !
greetings from Belgium
Inge
me back...
missed the word "not"...
I would NOT be able to do something similar before work...
greetings
Inge
Love the card, and the hang loose is too funny. I don't blame you one bit for changing the deadline, I wondered how you were getting it all done, even though I know you're superwoman and all....ok, let's stickize! rofl!
Wow, all I have is the Rock Candy Stickles. Been staring at the stickles packages saying, I don't need them, I don't need them.........but, now I do ;) Now the only question is, which ones??? ha!
Lovely Canvas Linda. Perfect use for stickles--on leaves! Thanks for sponsoring. You are so very generous!
Sad day for me as I cannot play this week, all of my stuff is packed up. =(

Wow - Linda! I wouldn't have guessed that those leaves were stamps. That dimension was created with the distress stickles? Very cool! I love leaves - I can't wait for fall to get here. I'm definitely in the mood! :)

Linda, I just love your Distress Stickles creation~very clever! Seems like I "stickle-ize" just about anything I can get my hands on; it adds just that extra bit of zing to any project. Suzie
I love, love, love this weeks challenge. Also - you need to know, my stamping doldrums have been removed due to this challenge. I am not only loving mondays more than ever....I am stamping more than ever. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for getting me on the right track.
I love your way of describing things.....disco ball glitter...so true. Your card is wonderful. The sentiment made me laugh. You are so very creative. I am glad SSS is sponsoring. We can't have you paying out of pocket for prizes. You are doing enough already.

Hi Linda, love the card, the leaves are gorgeous and this would be great for an autumnal birthday. Think the Hang Loose is very clever and works so well with your art. Well thought out. Thanks again for your help earlier Linda, take care. Tracy Evans x

Love your leaves Linda! You inspired me to do my own leaves this week. Thanks so much for having this challenge. It's really giving me the push to use all these wonderful supplies.
Got mine done! We've been needing a key rack for a while. I wish it was easier to photograph stickles!

Maggie
Linda, your card is wonderful... love the leaves and the words!!!
Hey, Stranger, how ya doin'?!? Not that you're strange ... although you are ... jess a bit ... but THAT'S the part I LOVE about you!!!
Just wanted to swing by and say "hi" to one of the coolest chicklettes in the pack. So "hi."
And now, a question: I won a $25 gift certificate and one of the ways I could spend it would be on The Compendium ... should I? Here's why: I've got 10 years in altered art, assemblage, collage, and mixed media ... do I already know all this stuff? And frankly, is it worth it? 'Cuz there are a LOT of other kewl and groovy things I could get with the $25. Email me: debkneer at aol dot com if you have a chance in the next few days.
Also, are you gonna be continuing this challenge? Or stop it the day my (maybe) new book arrives? My luck sucketh, Linda ... BIG TIME. See, if you're gonna continue on and on with this challenge, that's one more reason to get the dang thing, kwim?
Sending hugs and apologies for the long and winding road, err, post. Hope all is well with you, Sweetie ... have a great weekend!!
PS: Your card ROCKS!! LOVE, love, love it. In fact, I want to marry this card. No. I do. Yes, I mean .... I think ... The Medium is the Message (M. McLuhan, 1964).
*slinks in, head hanging, sorry I am late!!!*
But, I have gotten my tag done...hurrah at last! Used three different colours of stickles on mine... you can see it HERE
