Compendium of Curiosities 2, Challenge 9

Technique 9: Pocket Watch
Tim Holtz: A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol. 2, page 35
Sponsored by Simon Says Stamp

Happy Friday, everyone! Wow, has this week ever zoomed by. Actually, 2012 has been zooming by, period, and it's amazing to think that here in the US, Fathers Day is nearly here. As you no doubt guessed, I used our Pocket Watch challenge to work up a little present for my dad. That's us in the grainy vintage photo. Hmmm... it kind of weird to be at the age where your own baby photo can be called "vintage!"

(Dad, if you're reading this... Happy early Fathers Day!)

I think the Pocket Watch from Idea-ology is one of the coolest products Tim has come up with yet. There's just SO much you can do with it, so many ways to make it a personal treasure, and I can't wait to see what you guys create for this challenge!

It's the second Friday of the month, and that means my sweet friends at Simon Says Stamp will be giving an awesome $25 gift certificate to one lucky, randomly-selected participant in this week's challenge!

To participate in CC2C #9, create your own work of art using the Pocket Watch technique on page 35 and link it to this blog using the InLinkz button at the bottom of this post. You're golden as long as you honor these simple rules:
Follow the technique as it's written in A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol. 2 (adding your own special flair, of course!), and clearly state that the technique comes from Tim's book.
Include a link to this post in your blog post (or photo description if you're linking from an online photo-sharing site).
To be eligible to win the $25 shopping spree, you must include a link to Simon Says Stamp (www.simonsaysstamp.com)
Out of respect to Tim, please don't post the technique instructions on your blog! Any entries that don't follow this rule will be unlinked.
This challenge closes on Thursday, June 14 at 8 pm MTD.   Please see the CC2C FAQ here for more information.

I hope you all have a spectacular and creative weekend! I'm looking forward to some quality time catching up on blog visits and (finally!) cleaning up my wreck of a studio. How 'bout you?

Hugs,
Linda

P.S. If you don't have them on hand, you'll want to get a bottle of Picket Fence Distress Stain, some Ranger Metal Foil Tape, some of Tim's Core'dinations paper, Kraft Glassine and Ranger Ink Refresher to add to your stash for upcoming challenges (not necessarily in that order). Also, get yourself a new Configurations box-- any size you like. I'll try to let you guys know in plenty of time when a challenge is coming up that requires a specific product beyond the standard Tim Holtz stash items.

Very nice take on the technique, Linda. Since I just worked with an old photo of mine for Tim's June tag, and I uncharacteristically have all the products on hand for Tim's technique, I wasn't terribly creative with mine. I do like it, though, and will use it in a project soon.

WELL! linda I am also refreshing my studio and repurposing boxes, changing the outspread of every little bit of paper, every little tool etc... It takes time but it is worth it! You even get to discover stuff you forgot you had. Concerning your creation I love it so much and it inspires me to make mine for my father also. What a great idea!
